Trudy Sue (Ziesmer) Hill

August 22, 1944 - January 2, 2026

Trudy Sue (Ziesmer) Hill, age 81, of Ida, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Hampton Manor in Dundee, Michigan, under the compassionate care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Born on August 22, 1944, in Monroe, Michigan, Trudy was the daughter of Walter and Vera (Drodt) Ziesmer. She graduated from Ida High School in 1962. Shortly after, she and her sister Barbara embarked on an adventure to Colorado, where they lived for several years before she returned home to Ida. Upon her return, Trudy began her career in the paper industry at Seaman Patrick Paper Co in Kalamazoo MI, before joining Paper and Graphics, Toledo Oh, where she proudly worked until her retirement.

On June 25, 1994, Trudy married Christopher Hill at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church. They enjoyed their retirement years together in Ida until Christopher’s passing on March 15, 2015. Trudy remained devoted to her community and her faith, volunteering at Prince of Peace Church where she served as Secretary of the Board, participated in the Altar Guild, and treasured being part of the Journey of the Cross.

Trudy had a lifelong passion for helping others. She was deeply committed to serving through God Works, assisting with funeral luncheons, and supporting the soup kitchen. Her generous spirit touched countless lives.

Trudy loved spending time with family and friends. No matter when an invitation for fun came her way she only needed five minutes to be ready for fun. Trudy was an enthusiastic sports fan who never missed a chance to cheer on the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Pistons, and her beloved Ida Bluestreaks. She also had a special place in her heart for dogs—each one she welcomed into her life was dearly loved and thoroughly spoiled.

Trudy will be lovingly remembered by Christopher’s children, Matt (Summer) Hill and David Hill; her brother, David (Barbara) Ziesmer; her grandchildren, Grant and Garrison Hill; and her nieces and nephews: Eric (Jo Ellen) Ziesmer, Jeff (Jennifer) Ziesmer, Chance (Kimberly) Bradley, Court Bradley, Chad (Elizabeth) Ziesmer, and Gretchen (Chad) Gustwiller, along with her great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Christopher; her siblings, Barbara Bradley and Donald Ziesmer; and her sister-in-law, Sue Ziesmer.

Trudy’s kindness, her generous heart, and her unwavering devotion to her family and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

There will be a memorial gathering at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, MI, Saturday January 17, 2026, from 10AM until the services at 11AM. Pastor Aaron Werner will officiate. Burial of cremains will take place at Lulu Cemetery, Ida, MI.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her caregiver, Larrissa Ziesmer, for the exceptional care and love she provided to Trudy.

For those wishing to remember Trudy in a special way, the family invites memorial gifts to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or the Monroe Humane Society.
