Rodger Thomas Rollman

February 3, 1941 - February 8, 2026

Rodger Thomas Rollman, age 85 of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He spent his final days surrounded by family at home, with wonderful support from Northwest Ohio Hospice.


He was born on February 3, 1941, in Lambertville, Michigan to Ruth (Donnell) and Ernest Rollman.


He married Janice Ready on October 11, 1968, at St. John Catholic Church in Monroe. Rodger is a 1959 graduate of Bedford High School where he earned 16 varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball and track. Rodger was known by the Monroe Evening News sportswriters as the “Bread and Butter Man” and “a key all around performer”. He went on to play football at Indiana University. He served in the US Army from 1962-1963 at Fort Knox, Kentucky where he completed Armor Radio Maintenance Certification and at Fort Hood, Texas. In 1963 Rodger was part of Operation Exercise Big Lift and was deployed from Texas to Germany. Rodger completed his Army Reserve obligation in 1968. He attended Indiana University, Monroe County Community College, and completed the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Apprenticeship. He is member of IBEW Local 8 Rossford, Ohio and worked as an electrician for over 30 years, retiring in 2000.  Prior to becoming an electrician he was employed at Clinton Products, E R Zeiler Excavating and Sharon Manufacturing.  Rodger was a member of American Legion Post 514 Ida, Michigan.


In addition to his parents, his passing is preceded by his siblings Gloria Sandusky, George (Marilyn), and John. To cherish his memory, he leaves his sister Rhonda (Dean) Sass.


He had two children, Randolph of Maryland, and Kendra (Scott) Dafoe, and grandson’s Brendan, Drew and Tyler Dafoe of Petersburg.


Rodger loved watching his grandsons play sports, the Detroit Red Wings, and Milwaukee’s Best!


All services and burial at Pleasant View Cemetery (Petersburg, MI) are private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Capaul Funeral Home.
