Phillip (Butch) Lee Eighmey

November 3, 1938 - May 7, 2025

Phillip (Butch) Lee Eighmey, 86 years of Petersburg, MI, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, comfortably in his home after a long illness under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. There will be a memorial gathering at Capaul Funeral Home (Ida, MI) on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 3pm to 7pm. Family and friends may also gather at New Life Church (Petersburg, MI) on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 10am until the memorial service commences at 11am. Pastor Josh Ellis will officiate. A private burial of the remains will take place at Whiteford Union Cemetery at a later date.


Phil was born on November 3, 1938, in Erie, MI, to Delbert and Bernice (Goodman)Eighmey. He was a 1957 Monroe High School graduate. After graduating, Phil attended an apprentice school for carpentry, then worked alongside his brother. He was a licensed builder, retiring in 2008. Phillip married Kathleen Capman on September 12, 1960. He was a member of the Lambertville Civic Club. Phil loved a good game of cards and never missed the weekly bridge games at Bedford and Frenchtown Senior Citizen Centers. Phil enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and many camping trips to northern Michigan and Muskegon with his family and friends. He would often take his daughters hunting and fishing with him. He was an avid berry picker throughout the summer. Phil was always lending a helping hand to family, friends and even strangers and enjoyed spending quality time with family.


Phil was preceded in death by his father, mother, siblings, Arlene Navarre, Clayton, Warren, Loretta Grodi, Lucille Matzinger and Delores (Pat) Harmon, 1 granddaughter, Elizabeth and 1 great grandson. Survivors include his wife Kathleen, his daughters Angela Younglove, Annette Burns, Lisa Meyers, and Erin (Gordon) Tyrrell, his sisters Barbara Kinney and Phyllis (Roger) Adams. Grandchildren Bethany (Kyle), David (Kenzie), Kellijean, Sam, Clara, Audrey, Nick (Katie), Rebekah (Amanda), Leslie (Jason), Michael, Stephanie (Trey), Brookelynn, and Madison, and 17 great-grandchildren.


Memorial contributions can be made out to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and/or New Life Church.
