Marlene Marian Howe (Kuhl) – 86 years of Ann Arbor, MI – died on Wednesday April 30, 2025, at Glacier Hills Senior Living Community (Ann Arbor, MI) under the care of Trinity Hospice. There will be a memorial gathering at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (Ida, MI) on Saturday May 17, 2025, from 10am until the memorial service commences at 11am. Pastor Aaron Werner will officiate. Marlene’s burial of cremains will take place at Prince of Peace Lutheran Cemetery (Monroe, MI) immediately following the memorial service.
Born on March 21, 1939 – in Chelsea, MI – Marlene was the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Winter) Kuhl. She was a 1957 graduate of Chelsea High School, a 1960 graduate of Michigan State University (obtained a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education), a 1965 graduate of Eastern Michigan University (obtained a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling), and performed her Post-Masters Study in Psychology at Eastern Michigan University. Marlene worked at Pinckney High School as a Home Economics Teacher from 1960-1961, at Summerfield Public Schools as a 6th grade teacher from 1962-1963 and a high school counselor from 1969-1972, at Dundee High School as a high school counselor from 1963-1967 and from 1974-1985, and at Fennville High School as a high school counselor from 1986-1996. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Marlene was also a member of numerous quilting organizations both locally and nationally. When she wasn’t working, Marlene enjoyed quilting, reading, gardening, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children Janice (Michael) Milosh, James (Mary) Howe, and Denise (Terry) Potter, her grandchildren Sarah (Jon), Emily (Andre), Leah (Colin), Maria, Bailey (Justin), Cody, Tori, and Shelby, her great-grandchildren Aiden, Connor, Rowyn, and Henry and her former spouse, John Howe. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Edna and her sister Barbara Hoopingarner.
Memorial contributions can be made out to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Lutheran Home of Mercy (Williston, OH), and/or Breast Cancer Research.
