Ione Alice (Doty) Parker

January 10, 1926 - February 2, 2026

Ione Alice (Doty) Parker, born on January 10, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away at the age of 100 peacefully in her home in Ida, surrounded by her family February 2, 2026.  Her family moved to Ida, Michigan when she was 8 years old.  She attended Ida Schools and as a freshman played on the women’s championship half-court basketball team. She served the community as Ida Township treasure for over 30 years.  She was a founding member of the Monroe County Treasures Association where her peers elected her as their first treasure of the organization.  She was a founding board member of the Family Medical Center of Michigan, a non-profit community health center providing health care to all regardless of their ability to pay. She oversaw its growth from a single provider in 1997 to four sites with over 70,000 medial, behavioral health, and dental encounters annually.  She retired from the board after 40 years of service in 2019. 


She was married 71 years to Glenn Parker who passed away in 2018.  Survived by their three children Tom (wife Vida), Kathy, Mark (husband Jimmy), her sister Janet (husband AL), and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by Parents Alice and Almon Doty, Sisters Carol (Don) Trowbridge, Veva (Raymond) Newcomb, Pat (Lee) Hammond. 

 

Friends may gather at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Saturday February 7, 2026, from 12PM until the service at 2PM. A private burial will happen after at Pleasant View Cemetery.


Ione and Glenn were long time members of the Ida United Methodist Church where they served as youth group leaders, The family encourages memorial contributions to the Women’s Group at the Ida United Methodist Church.
