Gertrude Dolores Bowman (Gubala)

Gertrude Dolores Bowman (Gubala), 93 years of Petersburg, MI, died on Monday September 1, 2025, at her residence under the care of hospice.  Family and friends may visit Capaul Funeral Home (Ida, MI) on Monday September 8, 2025, from 2pm to 8pm.  Gertrude will lie-in-state at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (Petersburg, MI) on Tuesday September 9, 2025, from 10am until the funeral service commences at 11am.  Gertrude’s burial will take place at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery (Petersburg, MI) immediately following the funeral service.  Pastor David Vinciguerra will be officiating.

Born on March 13, 1932, in Monroe, MI, Gertrude was the daughter of Benjamin and Hannah (Green) Gubala.  She attended Ida Public Schools.  Gertrude married Dale Bowman on December 20, 1952.  Sadly, Dale passed away on June 29, 1989.  Gertrude was a proud farmer’s wife and homemaker.  She was a member of the Dundee Senior Center & Women’s Circle at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.  When Gertrude wasn’t juggling housework, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending quality time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons Dwight (Patricia), Robert, Gary, and James (Sandee) Bowman, her sisters Lillian Baumhower and Helen Gubala, her 8 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.  Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her brothers Anthony, Edward, Joseph, Leo, and Albert Gubala, and her sisters Margaret and Virginia Gubala.
