Daniel Raymond Sweat

Daniel Raymond Sweat was born on October 29, 1971, in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of three children born to the union of Raymond Hobert and Bobbie Faye (Yoakum) Sweat. Dan was a graduate of Ida High School and Monroe County Community College. On October 4, 2003, he wed the former Robin Catrece Thomson in Monroe, Michigan. The couple enjoyed twenty-two years of marriage, traveling to Germany, Israel, and Paris, exploring many local cities, and visiting airplane and history museums, botanical gardens, and zoos.

He began his career as a diesel mechanic and later entered the field of automotive testing and software, working for several different companies. He could often be seen on a Saturday morning outside working in the yard and on various machinery. From the time he was a young child, he was able to take things apart and put them back together and often advised others on their mechanical projects.

As an active member of the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, Dan ran the lights for regular services and special events.  He regularly attended Sunday School and Sunday morning services. He also participated in several mission trips.

Daniel Raymond Sweat, age 53, of Monroe, passed away from a heart attack at home on Saturday, October 25. His passing was preceded by his father, Raymond Sweat, several uncles and aunts, and a cousin.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Robin Catrece Sweat; mother, Bobby Faye Sweat; sisters, Jennifer (David L.) Revels, and Carolyn (Timothy) Guy; father and mother-in-law, James and Margie Thomson; brothers-in-law, Tracy (Tami) Thomson and Brett (Jennifer) Thomson; nephews and nieces, Jacob (Sydnee) Revels, Elijah Revels, Joy (Nathan) Mundy, Anthony (Lindsay) Guy, Michael Guy,  Michael Foster, Hailey Morales, Charley Thomson, and Lauren Thomson;  many uncles, aunts, cousins, and several great nieces and nephews.

Friends may gather on Monday November 3, 2025, from 2:00pm-8:00pm at Capaul Funeral Home; 8216 Ida West Road, Ida, Michigan 48140 (734) 269-3575. Dan will lie in state from 10:00am until 11:00am on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, 14260 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161. A Worship Service celebrating his life will take place at 11:00am followed by procession to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
