
Dale Lester Bastian
December 18, 1941 - February 28, 2025
Dale Lester Bastian, 83 years of Ida, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2025, at ProMedica Monroe Hospital. Born on December 18, 1941, in Monroe, Michigan. Dale was the son of the late Lester and Mildred (Wertenberger) Bastian. Dale was christened and confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Ida, Michigan. Dale is a 1959 graduate of Ida High School, Ida, Michigan. He attended Ferris Institute in Big Rapids, Michigan. On October 30, 1965, Dale married the love of his life, Arlene Beck, in Deerfield, Michigan. Sadly, Arlene preceded Dale in death on May 30, 2011. Dale served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He was sent to serve in the 1967 Detroit Riots. Dale retired in 2006 from General Motors Powertrain, Toledo, Ohio, where he worked for over 27½ years, in skilled trades. Dale loved his family and enjoyed deer hunting with them. Dale loved spending time in his shop working on his scroll saw, creating beautiful artwork. Dale always loved doing crafts and was very talented.
Dale is survived by his children: Sherri (Steve) Capser and Dale (Julie) Bastian and grandchildren: Anthony Capser, Joshua (Emily) Bastian and Jacob (Nikki) Bastian and a sister Jeanette Chinavare of San Tan Valley, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Arlene, brothers-in-law Robert Dale Beck, Harold Dwight Beck, and Carol Grace (Beck) Carlson.
Visitation will be held at Capaul Funeral Home, 8216 Ida West Road, Ida, Michigan 48140, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 1 pm until 3 pm, with a service taking place at 3 pm. Pastor Ted Kerr III will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery Petersburg, Michigan.
