Joyce Ann Kominek (Warfield)

Joyce Ann Kominek (Warfield) 89 yrs, of Monroe, MI was called home from our heavenly Lord on Friday, December 25, 2020.


Born September 15, 1931, in Kalamazoo, MI, Joyce was the daughter of Milton and LaVergne (Scheid) Warfield. She was a 1949 Jackson High School Graduate. She later went to Grant Hospital of Nursing in Chicago. She also trained at St. Luke Hospital also at the University of Toledo. She worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital in the ER then later worked at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Physical Therapy for 29 yrs retiring in 1991. She married Frederick S. Kominek on October 11, 1952, at St. Paul Episcopal Church. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, MI, Dundee Seniors, senior bowling at Monroe Sports Center, Ash Township Seniors, member of Travel Trailers of Midwest, and loved playing cards, knitting, fishing, taking bus trips, and spent 17 winters in Florida. Joyce started the first Mastectomy Support Group at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Mi, and served as a Board of Director at the Monroe County Community Credit Union 1992-1996 along with serving on the loan committee prior to being a director.


Survivors include Her husband, Frederick; children, Terri (Larry) Gramlich, Fred (Kathie), Sheryl (John) Franzen, Rod, Jennifer (Gary) Poupard, Stephanie (Andy) Gabriel; grandchildren, Lisa, Matt, Marc, Mike, Rachel, Nicole, Melissa, Liz, Megan, Jessica, Donald, and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Pat Patton.


Memorial contributions for Mrs. Kominek can be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, MI.


Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic all services and burial at Rath Cemetery, Monroe, MI, are private.
