James “Jim” Michael Haener

James “Jim” Michael Haener, 55, of Newport, MI died Friday, March 20, 2020. All services are private.
Born January 2, 1965, he was the son of John (Jay) and Bernice (Laboe) Haener. Jim was a 1983 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School and attended Monroe County Community College. He was employed for more than 30 years in the eye care field, and in keeping with Jim’s wishes, his eyes were donated to ensure someone else had the gift of vision. Jim was a people person, loved cooking, designing and had a kind word for everyone he met.
He is survived by a daughter, Melissa Hadley (James Alcock) of Temperance, MI, a son, Cody Haener of LaSalle, MI; grandchildren Kaedyn Hadley and Jayden Haener; siblings Kris (Michael) Toth, JoAnn (Joe) Slamiar, John (Rhonda) Haener, Beth (Ed) Lambrix, Jeanne (Scott) Lambrix, and brother-in-law Gene Campbell. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karol Campbell.
