Richard Stanley Dentel

Richard Stanley Dentel – 88 years of Ida, MI – died on December 24, 2024 (Christmas Eve), at home.  Family and friends may visit Capaul Funeral Home (Ida, MI) on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 (New Year’s Eve), from 10am until the service commences at 11am.  Richard’s burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at Pleasant View Cemetery (Petersburg, MI).  Pastor Joshua Ellis, of New Life Church (Petersburg, MI), will officiate.

Born on August 5, 1936 – in Monroe, MI – Richard was the son of Harold and Florence (Cosner) Dentel.  He was a 1955 Ida High School graduate.  Richard married Janet Schiets on March 2, 1964, in Milan, MI.  Richard honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962.  He was a foreman for General Motors for 36 years, retiring in 1992.  When he wasn’t working, Richard enjoyed farming, gardening, singing in the church’s choir, playing harmonica, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Janet, his children Timothy (Andrea) Dentel, Donna (Oke) Maertin, and Tonya (Jason) Bess, his siblings James and Dean Dentel, Phyllis Sedelbaugher, Janice Simon, Ruth Stoianowski, and Jean Rorke, his grandchildren Allen (Jen), Anna, Samuel, and Liliana, and four great-grandchildren.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Sharon Sullins, and John and Bob Dentel.
