Randall (Randy) Ralph Zabawa

June 17, 1954 - April 27, 2024

Randall (Randy) Ralph Zabawa was born June 17, 1954, and passed unexpectedly on April 27th, 2024, at his home in Lambertville.  He was the youngest son of the late Ray and Mary Ellen (Barkenquast) Zabawa and a 1973 graduate of Ida High School. Throughout his career, he held various positions in the excavating and paving industry.  He retired from Crestline Paving in 2022 and was a member of Operating Engineers, Local 324 and Laborers’ International Union, Local 1191.

 

Friends may call at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, MI, on Saturday, May 18th beginning at 10:00 a.m. where a memorial service will be held at 11:00. Pastor Aaron D. Werner will officiate. Interment will be at Rath Cemetery.

 

“Uncle Randy” always wore a big smile to greet his more than 50 nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews. While he enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers, his greatest joy came from time spent with his children and grandchildren. When he wasn’t with them, he was boasting of their latest accomplishments.

 

He will be dearly missed by his friends and surviving family, especially his daughters, Melissa Zabawa, and Erica Simpson, son, ABE 1 James (Michelle) Zabawa, and his six grandchildren, Brook Wilt, Alison, Steven and Jessica Simpson and Sabrina and Olivia Zabawa. Randy is also survived by his siblings, Melinda Zabawa, Marla Calevro, Ronald (Lynne) Zabawa, Marcia Doeble, Mary Jane (John) Leland, Patricia Lynas, and sister-in-law Sandy Zabawa. He was preceded in death by his son, Jason, and brothers Robert and Ray.
