Mike was born in Bangor, Maine, on January 31, 1950, to Parmney and Mildred (Emery) Perry. He attended Ypsilanti High School until joining the workforce in 1966. After a tour in the United States Army, Mike went to work for General Motors for 36 years, where he was a painter and forklift driver at several locations in three different states, retiring in 2006. Mike was a proud member of the UAW, Chapter 13. He married his longtime sweetheart, Julie Odneal on June 13, 2018. Mike loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, supporting their interests and watching them grow. Other favorite hobbies included camping, snowmobiling, hunting, tinkering, watching NCIS, riding his Honda Goldwing and modifying his Camaro.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; children: Barbara (Brian) Perry-Culver, Shaun (Laura) Perry, Kristen Perry; step-children: Kathleen (John) Odneal , Fred (Chelsea) Barnier, Mark Barnier, Teddy (Amanda) Barnier; brother Richard (Debra) Perry; sister Rose (Paul) Truhn-Apsley; and grandchildren: Brett, Mellissa, Chase, Reid, Grace, Bailey, Keslyn, TeeJay, Ryker and Milo.

Mike will always be remembered for his good-natured banter and his habit of shouting your name when he needed you. He was the husband, father, grandfather, and friend who would gladly help you out in times of need. We’ll always remember his invaluable life advice, “pay for your house, car, and go to your job, everything else comes after that.” Mike will be sorely missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
