Gordon Edward Schoenberg

Gordon Edward Schoenberg – 91 years of Ida, MI – died on Wednesday December 11, 2024, at ALCC (Monroe, MI), under the care of Heartland Hospice.  Family and friends can visit Capaul Funeral Home (Ida, MI) on Wednesday December 18, 2024, from 2pm to 8pm.  Gordon will lie-in-state at St. Joseph Catholic Church (Ida, MI) on Thursday December 19, 2024, from 10am until the Mass of Resurrection commences at 11am.  Cremation to follow.  Father Derik Peterman will officiate.

Born on August 6, 1933 – in Detroit, MI – Gordon was the son of Edward and Catherine (Fialkowski) Schoenberg.  He was a 1951 South Western High School (Detroit, MI) graduate. Gordon served honorably with the US Army from 1956-1958. Gordon worked as an electrician for General Motor for over 46 years.  He married Mary Robinson on July 5, 1960.  Mary died on July 12, 2016.  Gordon was a member of the American Legion Post 514 Lynn C. Weeman and UAW Detroit, MI.  When he wasn’t working, Gordon enjoyed watching sports, fishing, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Survivors include his sons Gordon Jr. (Melinda) and John (Molly) Schoenberg, his daughters Lisa (Mark) Teets and Ann (Stanley) Austin, 14 Grandchildren, and 11 Great-Grandchildren.  Gordon was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents Edward and Catherine, his sister Delores Spray, and his grandson Stephen Schoenberg.
