Glenn Alvin Kreps

June 28, 1938 - February 8, 2024

Glenn Alvin Kreps – 85 years of La Salle, MI – died on February 8, 2024, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital (Monroe, MI).  Family and friends can visit Capaul Funeral Home (Ida, MI) on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 3pm to 8pm.  Glenn will lie-in-state on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Mount Zion Global Methodist Church (La Salle, MI) from 10am until the funeral service commences at 11am.  His burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at Roselawn Memorial Park (La Salle, MI).  Pastor Wendi Leonard will officiate.

Born on June 28, 1938 – in Monroe, MI – Glenn was the son of Alvin and Naomi (Buchanan) Kreps.  He was the 1956 Ida High School valedictorian.  Glenn graduated from the University of Michigan in 1960.  Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, until 1964.  After his Army service, he followed in his father’s footsteps and began a career in the U.S. Postal Service, eventually serving as the Postmaster in Erie, Michigan.  Glenn retired in 1996.  When he wasn’t working, Glenn enjoyed reading, listening to music, gardening, walking and watching University of Michigan football games. He especially cherished spending quality time with both branches of his family; the Kreps’ here in Michigan and, through frequent attendance at Buchanan family reunions, his mother’s side of the family in Tennessee and Kentucky.

Survivors include his nephews Scott (Joni) and Andrew (Cherry) Peth, and his niece Connie (Robert) Giebel.  All his survivors grew up next door to him and have the fondest memories of his lifelong friendship and kindness.  His family is immensely grateful that he had the opportunity to see his beloved Michigan Wolverines win the National Football Championship this past January.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and his sister JoAnn Peth.

Memorial contributions can be made to Mount Zion Global Methodist Church.
