David Morrison Johns

David Morrison Johns – 86 years of Grand Rapids, MI – died on Friday April 26, 2024, at

Butterworth Hospital (Grand Rapids, MI).  Family and friends may visit Capaul Funeral Home (Ida, MI) on Thursday May 2, 2024, from 11am until the funeral service commences at 2pm. David’s burial will take place at Lulu Cemetery (Ida, MI) immediately following the funeral service.  Pastor Shawn Hulst, of Fellowship Reformed Church (Hudsonville, MI), will officiate.  

Born on December 22, 1937 – in Monroe, MI – David was the son of Elmer and Charlotte

(Morrison) Johns.  He was a 1955 Monroe High School Graduate and attended the University of Toledo.  David married Cheryl Shuck on September 6, 1984, in Wyoming, MI.  He was an

Engineer for Electrolux, formally known as White Consolidated Industries, retiring in 1996. 

David was a member of Kalkaska Moose Lodge.  In addition, he was a Boy Scouts Leader from 1970 to 1971.  When he wasn’t working, David enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, making Nantucket Baskets, building his own house in Kalkaska, MI, and spending quality time with family and friends. 

Survivors include his wife Cheryl, his children Cheryl (Scott) Stanard, Terri (Dave) Moore,

Michael and Allan Johns, his brother Lee (Nancy Malone) Johns, his grandchildren Rodney,

Jim, Michael, Jordyn, Mikayla, Kimberly, Eli, and 3 great-grandchildren.  David was

preceded in death by his parents, his brother Phillip Johns, and his sister Sharon Campbell.
