Daniel Gorr

Daniel Gorr, beloved husband of Diane Gorr passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on November 27th, 2024, surrounded by family.
Born on May 3rd, 1950, in Tecumseh, MI, Dan was the son of John and Shirley Gorr of Petersburg, MI where he graduated from Summerfield High School in 1968. Dan married his high school sweetheart Diane on May 16th, 1970, and they continued to share 54 devoted years together. Dan was a manager at the IGA Store in his local hometown and proceeded to continue his education and obtained a Master Electrician License. Dan worked at Monroe County Water Waste Treatment Plant where he held employment from 1983 to 2010. Dan was an avid fisherman with some of his favorite places being at Minster RV Park throughout the summers catching pan fish and bass to the ocean during the winter months in Florida catching sharks and a whale. Dan was a self-taught guitar player, served in the Army Reserves National Guard and was a member of the Woodchuck Club. Dan was respected and loved by many and was a man who always put his family and others first.
Dan is survived by his wife Diane Gorr, his son Ryan Gorr (Lori), sisters Cheri Kupa, Susan Kritz (Daniel), Joy Bidwell, Kim VanVoorhies and Amy Olvera-VanVoorhies (Milena), Mother-in-law Loretta VanVoorhies. Six Grandchildren; Amber, Allan, Caitlin (Andrew), Heavin, Hannah, Johnathan and Eight Great-Grandchildren; Trey, Lily, Kierstin, Cameryn, Jax, Safyia, Johnny and Shylo.
Daniel is preceded in death by son Allan Gorr, Father-in-law Marvin VanVoorhies, Father John Gorr, Daughter-in-law Cristin, Mother Shirley and Brother Steve.
A special thank you to the oncology nurses at Hickman Cancer Center and staff. Thank you to Dr. Voorhees and all of the staff at Hospice of Lenawee. And I would also like to thank from the bottom of my heart our granddaughter Caitlin.
Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home in Ida, MI on Tuesday December 3rd, 2024, from 2-8pm. He will lie in-state on Wednesday December 4th, 2024, from 10am until the services at 11am at the Capaul Funeral Home in Ida, Mi. Pastor Mark McCaskill of Cornerstone Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg, MI.
