May 5, 2026. A celebration of life will occur at a later date for Bill.

Born January 23, 1940, Bill was the son of Lucille and Dudley Hewitt. He was a Summerfield High School Graduate. He married Barbara Steffens in February of 1959. He was a plumber for Thompson’s Heating and Plumbing for 35 years. Bill was a member of the Monroe Boat Club, the Petersburg United Methodist Church, the Lions Club and the Monroe Plumbers and Pipe Fitter Local 671 union. He also was a volunteer Summerfield firefighter for many years. He loved tinkering in his garage, maintaining his meticulous yard, feeding the birds, snowmobiling, boating, and traveling the world in his younger years, going to Taco Tuesdays with friends, watching the news, the Detroit Lions, and the University of Michigan football. He was also a lifelong fan of the Summerfield Bulldogs, attending his great-grandchildren’s sporting events up until his final days. Most of all, he loved his family and visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A dedicated provider, he demonstrated his love through acts of service, a tireless work ethic, and an uncommon versatility—truly a master of many trades.

(Michelle) Hewitt; grandchildren, Kristofer (Ashley Miller), Nicholas (Jessica), Jessica (Brandon), Joshua (Amber), Kayle (Drake Cortese), Michael (McKenzi), Olivia (Michael) and 16 great-grandchildren.
