Jack Thomas Boll

Jack T. Boll, beloved father, papa, family man, and friend, of Petersburg, Cheboygan, and Temperance passed away at the age of 75 on Monday, August 10, 2026, in his home after several years of battling with his health.

Born September 30, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, Jack was the son of Charles (Karl) and Halcyon Boll.  He attended St. Alphonsus Catholic grade school in Deerfield and was a 1968 Summerfield High School Graduate.

Jack was a hard worker and a great provider for his family.  He began earning money at the young age of 11 by having his own paper route.  He earned his varsity letter his freshman year in baseball before giving it up to work at Koraleski Farms and Dave’s Sunoco.  After graduation Jack worked as a roadside mechanic for Associated Truck Lines, then a body man for Boll’s Body Shop with his brother.  Jack had a gift for doing beautiful body work on cars and continued side jobs in his garage for many years.  His final career destination was with the Bedford Sewage Treatment Plant/Monroe County Drain Commission as an equipment operator for 30 years, where he also proudly served as a union negotiator.  He retired in 2013.  

Jack was previously married to Connie Custer and was blessed to have three children.  He was a great dad, always making time to coach and practice their sports with them. He never missed a game, activity, or special event.  Jack was exceptionally proud of his kids, their spouses, and his granddaughters.  They never questioned his love because he always said, “I love you,” and hugged and kissed them every chance he got!

Jack was an excellent cook, grill master, and award-winning wine maker.  He loved a good meal, especially the family Christmas prime rib dinner (no peeky recipe) with all the fixings.  Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work, playing cards, listening to country music, and watching westerns.  He was mechanically inclined and could fix anything.  Jack was a proud sports fan of the University of Michigan, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Summerfield Bulldogs.  He loved his time at the family cottage on Mullett Lake and being the captain of his pontoon.  Jack was a member of the Petersburg VFW Pool League, Woodchuck Club, Garden Club, Regulators, and Summerfield Twp Fire Department.  He carried on his father’s tradition of packing bags for Christmas at the firehall long after he was a volunteer firefighter.

Jack was happiest when he was surrounded by people.  He lived a life centered around family, friendship, hard work, helping others, and fun!  He will be remembered for being the life of the party, his charisma, his stories, nicknames, one-liners, and jokes, and his ability to make people feel special.

Survivors include his children Stephanie (Sissy/Warden) and John Eby, Jared (Bruiser/J-Rod) and Sara Boll, Jenna (Squirrel/Foo Foo) and Lee Gable; his brother and sister-in-law Charles (Bink) and Roxie Boll; and his 6 granddaughters Olivia and Elise Eby, Ella and Avery Boll, and McKenna and Peyton Gable.

He was preceded in death by his parents Karl and Halcyon Boll, his sister Kathleen Diedrich, his brother-in-law James Diedrich, and his partner Ann Layman.

Cremation has taken place.  Friends and family may gather to visit the family from 9-11 am followed by a scripture service at 11 am at St. Alphonsus Light of Christ Catholic Church in Deerfield, Michigan on Tuesday August 25, 2026.
