Elmer Jay Bowman Jr.

Elmer Jay Bowman Jr., 89 yrs of Ida, MI, died Friday June 5, 2026, in his residence under the care of Heartland Hospice. Friends may come to the Visitation at Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Wednesday June 10, 2026, from 2-8pm. He will lie-in-state on Thursday June 11, 2026, from 10 AM until the Services at 11 AM at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Petersburg, MI. Pastor Jackie Rau will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Petersburg, MI.

Born February 18, 1937, in Petersburg, MI. Elmer was the son of Elmer SR. and Verna (Soldwich) Bowman. He was a 1955 Ida High School Graduate. He married Marilyn Ann Helmke on August 4, 1956, at the First St. John Lutheran Church, Ohio. Elmer was a lifelong farmer and also worked as a mechanic for Monroe County Road Commission for 30 yrs, retiring in 1996. Elmer was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, NRA, and loved playing dart ball, hunting, fishing, gardening and trips hunting to the upper peninsula of Michigan.

Survivors include: his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Denise Bowman, Debbie Kuehnlein, Dawn (Donald) Herrmann; sisters, Darlene Dailey, Yvonne (Jim) Heckel, Joyce (Robert) Carney; 5 grandchildren, Heather, Joshua (Jennifer), Stefanie (Steve), Kaila, Zachary; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons-in-law, Artie Bowman and Tim Kuehnlein.
