Donna Jean Stotz (Woelmer)

April 25, 1929 - February 19, 2026

Donna Jean Stotz (Woelmer), 96 yrs of Ida, MI, died Thursday February 19, 2026, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Sylvania, OH. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, on Friday February 27, 2025, from 2-8PM. She will lie-in-state on Saturday February 28, 2026, from 10AM until the services at 11AM at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church, Monroe, MI. Pastor Curtis Garland will officiate. Burial will be in East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Ida, MI.

 

Born April 25, 1929, in Monroe, MI. Donna was the daughter of Norman and Mary (Lutz) Woelmer. She was a 1946 Ida High School Graduate, who later earned her nursing degree from St. Vincent Nursing School, Toledo, OH in 1951. She married Erhard Stotz on October 6, 1951, at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church. Erhard died on August 17, 2012. Donna was a Registered Nurse for Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe, MI, for over 40 yrs, retiring in 1994. Donna was a member of East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church and part of Ladies Aid. She loved gardening, cooking, traveling, playing scrabble, painting pumpkins like the “Great Pumpkin” from the Peanuts and helping sell the traditional and annual pumpkins at the Stotz Farm in the fall for Halloween. 

 

Survivors include: her children, Dr. Walter (Dr. Joan Duggan), Stephen (Jeanette), William (Dolores), Rosemary Assenmacher, Richard (Leila), Kristine (Gene) Stotz-Bogedain; brothers, Robert (Loretta) Woelmer, Gerald Woelmer; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Melvin (Jeanette), Donald (Lena), Lois, Margaret (Gerald) sister-in-law, Cheryl Woelmer and son-in-law, Tom Assenmacher.
