Deanna Lynn Suydam

Deanna Lynn Suydam, 75, of Petersburg, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Cremation has taken place, and her remains will be laid to rest at Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg at a later date.

Born on July 31, 1951, in Salem, Ohio, Deanna was the daughter of Eugene and Carol (Bacon) Hickman. She graduated from Summerfield High School in 1969 and married Terry Suydam on August 1, 1970, at a Methodist church in Petersburg.

Deanna worked as a cook at Fairview for 20 years. She enjoyed reading a good book, sitting in the sun, and vacationing. Above all, she treasured spending time with her grandchildren and preparing delicious meals for those she loved. She adored children and was a second mom to many other children in the family, especially her granddaughter, Lyric Suydam-Bussel, whom she raised as her own. Selfless and caring, Deanna always put the needs of others before her own. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband, Terry; her sons, Michael (Brenda), Jason (Maryellen), Jeremy (Kerri-Ann), and Nicholas (Glinda); her brother, Joseph Hickman; her sisters, Eloise Scott and Peggy Howard; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Beverly and Angela Hickman.
