John Frederick Chiotti

February 4, 1955 - May 19, 2023

John Frederick Chiotti, 68 yrs, of Monroe, died Friday May 19, 2023, in his residence under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s. There will be a memorial gathering on Saturday June 3, 2023, from 9AM until the memorial service at 11AM at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI. Pastor Aaron Werner of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will officiate. Cremation has occurred.


Born February 4, 1955, in Pigeon, MI, John was the son of Darl and Doris “Onnallee” (Kuhl) Chiotti. He was a 1973 Milan High School Graduate. He married Sharon Tuller on October 13, 1978, in West Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ida, Mi. John was a man of many talents including truck driving for Benore and Eipperle for many years, was a life-long carpenter for Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and was a member of Carpenters Local 687, retiring in 2017. He was also a valued member of the Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years.


He loved woodworking and made several memorable pieces for family including a custom pool table and grandfather clock for his children. He also enjoyed the friendships he formed through his pool league, golf trips, hunting, and fishing. The last couple of years as his illness progressed, he looked forward to “Taco Tuesday.” If you were lucky enough to be part of that you know what we are talking about.


Survivors include: his wife, Sharon; children, Nicholas (Michelle) of Toledo, Renee Washington of Pace, Florida; mother, Doris “Onnallee” Chiotti of Bay Port, MI; sister, Barbara (Ed) Andrews of Saline, MI; grandchildren, Clay, Zane, and Ella Chiotti, Brooks Washington, Derek (Honey)Kelly, David Kelly (BreeAnn) and great-grandchildren, Allyssa (Sean) Lane, Brooklyn Kelly, Lily Kelly, Jade Pham, Kaylyn Pham, and Matthew Kelly. He was preceded in death by his father, mother-in-law, Kay Tuller; father-in-law, Richard Tuller and brother-in-law, Rick Tuller.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family, Ida Volunteer Fire Department or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
