Charles Metz, born on July 11, 1955, left this world on August 1, 2023. He was a man of remarkable passions and an unwavering dedication to his various pursuits. Chuck brought joy, comfort, and care to all those whose lives he touched, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.

 

Chuck was probably best known for his heartwarming portrayal of Santa, a role he embraced for over 40 years. Bringing smiles to countless faces during the holiday season, he embodied the true spirit of giving and selflessness and became a cherished tradition in the lives of many.

A life long culinary enthusiast, he honed his skills under the guidance of the esteemed chef, and friend, John Wesley. His culinary creations were a testament to his dedication and love for the art of cooking, leaving an indelible mark on the palates of those fortunate enough to taste his creations.

 

In his professional life, Chuck made a significant impact as a surgical nurse for over 40 years. Most of those years were spent at St. Vincent’s and Flower Hospital with interim assignments that let he and Birdie travel the country. His skilled and compassionate care touched the lives of countless patients and their families, bringing comfort and solace during challenging times.

 

Chuck’s love for adventure led him and Birdie on journeys around the world. From coast to coast in the US to far-flung destinations across the globe, they shared experiences that enriched their lives and created lasting memories.

 

At the core of Chuck’s being was his profound love for his family. He was a cherished husband, a beloved brother, the uncle you could always count on, and many who affectionately regarded him as a father figure.

 

Charles is survived by his wife, Robin Reed Metz, Brothers, Richard (Jane), James (Jeannie), Paul (Shari) and Gerald (Doris).

His memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his legacy will continue to inspire us to embrace life’s joys spread love, and give selflessly, just as he did throughout his remarkable journey.

Visitation is Wednesday, August 9th, from 2-8. Service is Thursday, August 10th, at 11am at Capaul Funeral Home, 8216 Ida West Road, Ida MI.
