Vernon Frederick Hall Jr.

January 7th, 1944 - November 14th, 2022

Vernon Frederick Hall Jr. – 78 years of Petersburg, MI – died Monday November 14th, 2022, at Beaumont Hospital, Wayne. Visitation is scheduled for Friday November 18th, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church, in Dundee, MI, from 10am until the funeral service commences at 1pm. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Dundee, MI, immediately following the funeral service.


Born January 7th, 1944 – in Ypsilanti, MI – Vernon was a son of Vernon and Patricia (Murray) Hall. After graduating Milan high school, Vernon attended classes at Monroe County Community College and the University of Mexico. In addition, he enlisted with the U.S. Coast Guard and was a Commander of the Ninth District. Where he was acknowledged for two tours circumventing the globe by sea as well as two tours of the Arctic Circle- Ice Breaker Missions aboard the USCG Vessel Westwind.


He married Karen Shoemaker on February 14th, 1976, in Ida, MI at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. When Vernon wasn’t working, he enjoyed his family, spending time with his sons and seven grandchildren. Activities included fishing, hunting, gardening, pen and ink artwork, and maintaining his property with much mowing that he enjoyed. Most importantly, he enjoyed his time traveling with his wife Karen and their joint time conducting business as Karens Kitchen/Bakery. Providing baked goods to any area craft events that recognized the unique recipes created by them.


Survivors include: his wife Karen, his sons Scott (Gilmara), Mark (Debbie), Michael, and Troy (Sarah), his brother Ron (Cindy), his sister Connie (Charles) Smith, and his grandchildren Katelyn, Josh, Ava, Tyler, Alexa, Benjamin, and Sadie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Richard and Jerry.
