Jimmy Otto Barta

Jimmy Otto Barta, 82 yrs, of Deerfield, MI, died Thursday August 4, 2022, in Flower Hospital, Sylvania, OH. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Tuesday August 9, 2022, from 4-8PM. He will lie-in-state on Wednesday August 10, 2022, from 10 AM until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11AM at Light of Christ Catholic Parish, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Deerfield, MI. Fr. Jeffrey Poll will officiate. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery, Deerfield, MI.

Born November 21, 1939, in Dickenson, ND. Jimmy was the son of Otto and Emma (Hoffer) Barta. He was a 1958 Deerfield High School Graduate where he was an All-State Offensive Tackle for 2 years. He served with the US Army from 1958-1960 and was recalled back during the Cuban Missile Crisis for 10 months from 10/61-8/62. He married Kathleen Swehla on February 2, 1963 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida, MI. He worked as a carpenter for ACP for 33 yrs retiring in 1999. He was a master carpenter who loved putting together model planes and riding his Kubota RTV.

Survivors include: his wife Kathleen; children, Robert (Tammy) Barta, Brian (Shannon) Barta, Denise (Marcus) Ramsey; brother, Rick (Susan) Barta and grandchildren, Alexander Barta, Daniel (Brianna) Barta, Rachel Ramsey, Caleb Ramsey and Connor Ramsey. He was preceded in death by his paents, brother Terry and daughter Renee.
