Jackie “Jay” Wayne Smith Jr.

1978 - January 14th, 2022

Jackie “Jay” Wayne Smith Jr. 43 yrs of Monroe, died Friday January 14, 2022 in Medilodge of Monroe, under the care of ProMedica Hospice. While gone too soon Jay wasted no time making the biggest imprints on the hearts and lives of many. He never met a stranger, always wearing a warm and welcoming smile be it friends, family, or co-workers. There will be a visitation on Saturday January 22, 2022, at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, from 12 PM until the services at 3 PM. Cremation will occur after.

Jay was a hardworking man and enjoyed the years he spent working for Chrysler, UAW local 723 and TWB. So many knew him as a highly skilled hi-lo driver. He took a lot of pride in his driving abilities and supporting his co-workers in their daily work requirements.

Jay was incredibly proud of his niece, Mackenzie Garrison, lovingly referred to as his Mack Mama, and nephew, Dillon (Tarissa) Kenzevich. He will forever be one of their biggest fans, singing their praise, cheering them on in all their accomplishments, and eager to bend an ear of others sharing each of their successes thus far. His love for them is more than words can express.

He will forever be remembered as one of the biggest of hearts, thankful, adoring, fun loving, kind, and beyond generous. You could often find Jay enjoying music, friends, and popping off some silly comeback, or clowning in some fashion. There are many who are fortunate to have known him, to enjoy him, to call him friend, brother, son, uncle, and family.

Jay was a lifelong resident of Monroe, attending Monroe High School, obtaining a GED. Surviving father, Jack Smith Sr., mother, Joyce Dinsmore, and sister Kristy (Fred) Schuyler. Preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.

Memorial contributions can be made to: The Family towards the services for Jay.
