Charles “Chuck” Dennis Norris

1943 - February 5th, 2022

Charles “Chuck” Dennis Norris, age 78, of Ida, MI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.

Chuck was a 1961 graduate of Monroe High School. After graduation, he attended Henry Ford Community College before enlisting in the US Navy where he proudly served our country on the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he began working at Ford Motor Company in Monroe, where he worked as an electrician. He retired after 40 years of service.

Chuck grew up on a farm in Ida, MI, where his love of family was rooted. The bond within a farm family is a strong one. His family was more than just relatives - they worked side-by-side everyday. At an early age, he learned respect for Mother Nature and God and developed a deep appreciation and love of animals. Most importantly, he learned, “good things come to those who wait.” Harvest season was the reward for months of hard work. He took great joy in sharing his fruits and vegetables with family and friends.

Family was Chuck’s greatest joy. He very much enjoyed gathering together to celebrate special occasions and holidays. He always arrived with a gift, a smile and tupperware containers for leftovers. He enjoyed traveling and had a fondness for and vast knowledge of cars, trucks and tractors.

Chuck will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his siblings: Arthur (Evelyn) Norris of Hemlock, MI, Noretta (Stan) Davis of Petersburg, MI, Beverly Walters and Steve Hugley of Monroe, MI; nieces and nephews: Arthur A. Norris of Hemlock, MI, Jennifer (Carlos) Jackson of Inkster, MI, Carol Campbell of Monroe, MI and Marilyn (Dan Huber) Meadows of Newport, MI as well as his great-nieces and nephews: Timothy (TJ) Grove, Jamie Marshall, Gabrielle (Jay Morris) Jackson, Chanelle Jackson and great-great nephew: Ryan Jackson Wells.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Lucille (Redlinger) Norris, and nephews; Dennis Norris and Jerry Campbell.

Family and friends may gather on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, at Capaul Funeral Home, 8216 Ida West Rd., Ida, MI. A remembrance service celebrating Chuck’s life, officiated by Pastor Keith Leonard, will be held on Friday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m., also at Capaul’s, followed by a procession to LaSalle Township Cemetery.

In honor of Chuck’s love of animals, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests supporting the Humane Society of Monroe County, 833 N. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48162.
