Shirley Jean Gorr (Clantz)

Shirley Jean Gorr (Clantz), 92 yrs, of Petersburg, MI, died Wednesday December 29, 2021 at Evangelical Lutheran Home in Saline, MI. All services and burial at Pleasant View Cemetery are private.

Born March 22, 1929 in Swanton, Ohio, Shirley was the daughter of Lowell and Lillian (Watkins) Clantz. She graduated from Deerfield High School in 1947, where she enjoyed cheerleading. Shirley married John Gorr on August 13, 1949 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. John died on August 6, 2007. She was happiest when her home was filled with family. She cooked enough for an army and always made people feel welcome in her home. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother as well as serving her church community. She was extremely active at St. Peter's where she was custodian, a member of the altar guild and Dorcas circle, and a Sunday School and Bible School teacher.

Survivors include: her children, Danny (Diane), Cheri Kupa, Susan (Daniel) Kritz; grandchildren, Ryan (Lori), Joseph, Jacob, Kristina; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, Steve, a grandchild, Allan, sister, Kathleen Diedrich and a nephew and niece, David Diedrich and Constance Gorr. A special thank you to nurses Karen and Donica for taking such good care of Shirley.
