William “Bill” Howard Cress

William “Bill” Howard Cress – 60 years of Petersburg, MI – died on Wednesday September 18, 2024, at ProMedica Flower Hospital (Sylvania, OH).  Cremation has occurred.  Family and friends will gather Thursday September 26, 2024, from 4pm to 8pm at New Life Church (Petersburg, MI) and on Friday, September 27, 2024, also at New Life Church (Petersburg, MI) from 10am until the memorial service at 11am.  Pastor Josh Ellis will officiate.

Born on October 19, 1963 – in Toledo, OH – Bill was the son of Francis “Roy” and Virginia (Schlegel) Cress.  He was a 1982 Summerfield High School graduate.  In addition, Bill attended the University of Toledo.  He married Rebecca Babcock on August 19, 1994, in Monroe, MI. He had a lifelong career in the scale industry, working as industrial scale specialist for the USDA for the last 7 years.  When he wasn’t working, Bill enjoyed watching football and baseball (Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and University of Michigan), vacationing in Upper Michigan (Gaylord and Grayling), golfing, hunting, and spending quality time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Rebecca Cress, his mother Virginia Cress, his sons Bryan (Emily) Cress, Jacob (Michelle) Hoover, and Nicholas (Andrew) Hoover, his daughters Amanda (Aaron) Ausmus and Rachel Cress, his brothers David (Gina) Cress and Thomas (Jackie) Cress, his sister Karen (John) Wells, sister-in-law, Anita Leiter and grandchildren Ashton, Adam, Hayden, Grayson, Eloise, and Bennett.  William was preceded in death by his father Roy.
