Annabel “Annie” Rumler

Annabel “Annie” Rumler, 101 years old of Petersburg, MI, died on Monday September 7, 2026, at Trinity Health Hospital, Ypsilanti, Mi.  Family and friends may visit Capaul Funeral Home, Ida MI on Tuesday September 15, 2026, from 11 am until the funeral service commences at 12:00 noon.  Annie’s burial will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg, MI immediately following the service.  Pastor Nate Elarton will officiate.

Born on September 9, 1924, Annie was the daughter of Alby and Minnie (Curlis) Wohlgamuth.  She was a 1943 graduate of Petersburg High School.  She married Dean Rumler of Petersburg. And made their home in Bayonne, NJ during his military service.  Later returning to their hometown in Petersburg.  She did her part in the war effort by working in the administrative office at the Ypsilanti, Willow Run Bomber Plant.  Eventually, settling into a life back in Petersburg and started their family.  She enjoyed her years as a homemaker and mother surrounded by her children and participating in their childhood activities of vacation bible school, and Cub scout, den-mother.  She was deeply devoted to her family and enjoyed the many activities of cooking, pie baking, sewing and sharing those skills with friends, neighbors, as well as the community, church dinners.  She was an award-winning baker and had the best pies in Petersburg.  She was always active in her church attending the Petersburg United Methodist Church, where she volunteered her secretarial and administrative skills for more than 70 years and served on several committees over these years.  After she raised her children, she worked for the University of Michigan as an Office Administrator to the Dean of Engineering and retired in 1987.  Upon retirement, Annie settled back to her former role of homemaker as she and Dean enjoyed travelling to spend time with family across the country and Germany.  Eventually, she devoted her life to the care of her husband, Dean until his death on January 23, 2020.

Survivors include her son, Tim (Cricket) Rumler, her daughter, Debby (Mark) Chesney, seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.   Annie was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Theodore (Ted), brothers, Harry and Theodore (Bus) Wohlgamuth and sisters, Mae Crowe, Viola Kerstetter, Vera Hinkleman, Helen Braun, Betty Degner and Virginia Berger, and great-granddaughter Jessica Kuderik.
