James “Jim” Merwyn Bice
June 24th, 1959 - June 24th, 2021
James “Jim” Merwyn Bice, age 62 of Ida, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, June 24th, 2021.
Jim was born in Manhattan, Kansas on June 24th, 1959 to Merwyn and Carolyn Bice. He graduated from Milan High School in 1977 where he made many lifelong friends. Jim went on to work at Mather Seal/Federal Mogul in Milan, Mi. When the plant closed, he was then employed by the University of Michigan where he was part of the grounds crew for many years.
Jim enjoyed hunting, especially with his childhood friends in Manchester, Mi. Every year he looked forward to opening day with his best buddies, Tim Hufford, and Mike and Joey Porter. So many great memories and stories came from those days of hunting. Jim could often be found relaxing out by his barn and admiring his yard. Many neighbors knew they were welcome to stop over any night. These neighbors turned into some of his greatest friends. Jim had a special passion for baseball, stemming from the years he spent playing. He was especially proud to coach both of his children during the Monroe County Fair Tournament. However, his greatest joy was watching his children play for the Ida Varsity Baseball and Softball programs where he never missed a game.
Jim is survived by his loving mother, Carolyn Bice; two children: Jarrett (Kevynn) Bice and Ashlyn Bice; two sisters: Patti (Mark) Boatwright and Natalie (Sean) Peterson; four nieces and nephews: Derek, Eric, Joelle, and Kaylin. His passing was preceded by his father, Merwyn Bice, and his good friend and neighbor, Craig Lewis.
Friends and family may gather at Capaul Funeral Home in Ida, MI on Tuesday, June 29th, 2021 for a visitation from 5:00PM-7:00PM, with a service following. Contributions can be made to his children.
