Gloria Marie Knerr, 76, of Petersburg died Thursday, March 4th, at Flower Hospital, Sylvania. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Sunday, from 1-9 PM. She will lie in state at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Deerfield, Monday, from 10 AM until the Mass of Resurrection at 11 AM. Fr. Jack Loughran will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg.

 

Born July 10, 1933, in Pittsburgh, PA, Gloria was the daughter of John and Marie (Walkers) Wachter. She married Walter Knerr July 31, 1954 in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Knerr worked for the Milan Forensic Hospital for 27 yrs, retiring in 1992. A member of St. Alphonsus Church, Deerfield and Cub Scout Den Mother for years, she also was a member of the Petersburg Bunko Group for many years, and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army, Monroe, where there is a room dedicated to the memory of her son, Van. Gloria loved to organize family events, travel, and have luncheons with friends. She kept in close touch with her Pittsburgh family and friends.

 

Surviving are: her husband, Walter; sons, Karl (Debra), Eric (Rachel), Kurt (Hideko), all of Petersburg; daughter, Laura, of Clevland, OH; brother, John Wachter, and sister, Betty Lindenflesser, both of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle, Amber, Kirk, Jason, and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Asher and Ashton. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Van, and a grandson Jason Kopke.

 

Memorial contributions for Mrs. Knerr may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Deerfield.
