Ethel D. Yarger, 101 yrs, of Temperance, died Tuesday, June 1st at Windhaven Elder Care while under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Thursday, from 1-8 PM. Services will be at the funeral home Friday at 11 AM. Rev. Tim Iocoangeli, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Ida, will officiate. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, OH.

 

Born October 10, 1908, in Ida Township, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Prudence (Smell) Dentel. An Ida High School Graduate, she attended Ypsilanti college for two years, and taught in the Airport schools for 29 years, retiring in 1973. She married James Colwell, December 22, 1927, in Ida. He died in 1972. She then married Alvin Yarger in 1982, in Britton, MI. He died in 1996. She was a member of the former First Baptist Church, of Temperance, a current member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, of Ida, and a member of the Monroe County Retired Teachers, the W.C.T.U, of Temperance, and was an expert seamstress. Ethel loved needle work, cooking, and traveling after retirement.

 

Survivors include: two sons, Paul Yarger, of Osseo, MI, Marvin Yarger, of Huron, OH; three daughters, Barbara (Rev. Dale) Gensler, of Clayton, OH, Mary Elaine (Ernest ) Folk, of Temperance, Jeannine (Charles) Reinbolt, of Erie, MI; a daughter-in-law, Linda Yarger Riley, of Erie, MI; ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, three sons, three brothers, two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Windhaven for their love and care of Ethel.
