Edwin M. Thorpe, 85 yrs, of Petersburg, died Thursday, June 17th at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Sunday from 1-9 PM, where services will be Monday at 11 AM. Burial will be in Pleasant view Cemetery, Petersburg.

Born April 14, 1925, in Chicago, Edwin was the son of Lester and Jean (Robertson) Thorpe. He served with the US Army from January, 1945, to November, 1946. He married Edith Bausman, September 8, 1951, in Milan, MI. She died January 23, 1999. Edwin was employed for 34 yrs in the Maintenance Dept. of Price Boiler Co, of Toledo, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Petersburg United Methodist Church, and loved to play his guitar and harmonica.

Survivors include: daughters, Linda (Curtis) Crace, of Perrysburg, OH, LuAnn (David) Shutters, of Sylvania, OH; half-brother, John (Shirley) Chamberlain, of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Dennis, Conni, Sheila, Cory, Dallas, Paula, Dejah, Jason, David, and Chris; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Aaron, Madelyn, Gavin, Piper, and Conor. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Isabelle Hutton.
