Ruth Irene Thompson, 97 yrs, of Ida, died Tuesday, October 5th,  at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Thursday from 2-8 PM. She will lie in state Friday at Lulu United Methodist Church from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Pastor Bonnie Frey will officiate. Burial will be in Lulu Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson was born June 5, 1913, in Dundee, the daughter of Clarence and Effie (Emans) Ballard. She married Ruben E. Thompson June 5, 1954. He died July 22, 1993. Ruth was a homemaker, a member of Lulu United Methodist Church, and loved camping.

Surviving are: son, Delbert Wayne, of Ida; daughters, Diantha Zunk, of Brooklyn, MI, Vonnie McComb, of Grayling, MI; brother, Francis Ballard, of Brooklyn, MI; sister, Vera Mae Siterlet, of Carlton, MI; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jacob Wayne, a son, Donald, a grandson, two great-granddaughters, six brothers, and a sister.
