Junior "Jay" Smith, 84 yrs, of Petersburg, died Friday, March 19th,  at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania,OH. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Wednesday, from 11AM until services at 6 PM. Rev. James McCourt, of Summerfield Baptist Church will officiate. Private family burial will be Thursday.

Mr. Smith was born January 29, 1926, in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the U.S. Merchant Marines, serving during WW II, and was a mechanical estimator for the F.C.B. Bedhimer Co, Toledo, for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He married Douglas Poe August 23, 1950, in Toledo. She died May 30, 1997.

Survivors include: a step son, Richard (Marylyn) Smith, of Texas, a daughter, Patricia (Robert) Thomas, of Petersburg; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
