James Alphonsus Simon, 74 yrs, of Ida, passed away Monday, August 23rd at Provincial House of Adrian while under the care of Erie West Hospice. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Wednesday, from 7-9 PM, and Thursday, from 2-9 PM. He will lie in state at St. Joseph's Church, Ida, Friday from 10 AM until the Mass of Resurrection at 11 AM. Rev. Dr. Michael Woroniewicz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ida.

Born May 31, 1936, in Deerfield, MI, Jim was the son of Nicholas and Julia (Van Coppenolle) Simon. He attended Ida High School, and was a life-long resident of the Ida area. Jim owned and operated Suburban Salvage for many years in Ida. Jim married Jeannette Lee Cannon on June 25, 1955 at St. Alphonsus Church, Deerfield. Later in life, he married Joyce Trudeau.

Surviving are: sons, Jeffree (Beth) Simon, of Blissfield; Jac (Kathy) Simon, of Remus, MI; daughters, Jeanee (Daniel) Gilson, of Deerfield, Jamee Simon, of Toledo; sisters, Eustelle Snyder, of Ottawa Lake, Irene Kehrer, of Monroe, Bernadine Nusbaum, of Temperance; a brother, Bernard (Janice) Simon, of Dundee; sisters-in-law, Barbara Simon, of Dundee, Phyllis Simon, of Monroe, grandchildren, Joshua and Jenniffer Soff, Jaclyn, Jessica, and Jacob Simon, Darren (Selena) Sayler, and Daniel and Jayson Gilson; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Chloe, Zoe, and Ellie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jeanette, in-laws Abe and Frances Cannon, brothers, Harold, Mainard and Cletus Simon, and brothers-in-law Alfred Kehrer, Marion Snyder, and Bernard Nusbaum.
