Edward Paul Kreger, 85 yrs, of Monroe, died Saturday, April 17th in University of Toledo Medical Center. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Wednesday from 2-9 PM. The Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7 PM, at the funeral home. He will lie in state Thursday, at St. Joseph's Church, Ida, from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Rev. Dr. Michael Worniewicz will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg.
Born July 7, 1924, in Erie Twp, Edward was the son of Joseph and Bertha (Flowers) Kreger. A 1941 Ida High School Graduate, he served in the US Navy from February 1945 to July 1946. He married Dolores Napierala April 14, 1951 in St. Anthony's Church, Toledo. A lifetime area farmer, he was also employed by Guardian Glass, Tecumseh Products, Jeep, the Monroe Post Office, and had been a fireman for the Detroit-Toledo Shore Line Railroad in his younger years.
Edward was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Ida, and helped care for the church cemetery. He was a former member of the VFW, Erie Post 3925.
Survivors include: his wife, Dolores; sons, Dennis, of Monroe, Keith, of LaSalle; a daughter, Karen (Kenneth) Cockrom, of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Christina, Kyra, Bradley, Kaylee; and great-grandchildren, Marlee Grace and Gabriella Rose. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leonard, and a sister Cecelia Reinhardt.
