Betty L. Kanavel, 57 yrs, of Ida, died Tuesday afternoon, at Fountain View of Monroe, while under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe. Friends may call at the New Life Church, 6023 Summerfield Rd, Petersburg, Friday, from 1-8 PM, and Saturday, from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Pastors Thomas J. Rupli and Harvey "Oke" Maertin will officiate. Burial will be in Lulu Cemetery, Ida. Arrangements are being handled by Capaul Funeral Home, Ida.

Born April 8, 1952, in Toledo, Betty was the daughter of Harold L. and Lillian (Comptom) Kanavel. She was a Sales Associate for J.C. Penny's of Monroe, for 13 years. Betty was a member of New Life Church where she was the music co-ordinator.

Survivors include: two sisters, Rose (Robert) Gee, of Deerfield, Sherry Kanavel, of Dunlap, TN; a half sister, Mary (Michael) Puls, of Lambertville; and 5 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Colon Cancer Alliance of Michigan.
