Sylvia Claramarie Collins, 88 years, of Petersburg, died Thursday, August 8th at Lake Park Comfort Center. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Sunday from 1-8PM. Services will be at the funeral home, Monday at 11AM. Rev. Janet L. Luchs of Petersburg United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg.

Born October 2, 1921, in Monroe, MI, she was the daughter of Carl and Sylvia (Jacobs) Layman. A 1940 Petersburg High school graduate, she married Everett B. Collins, August 1, 1941 in Napoleon, OH. He died in Nov. 1979. Sylvia worked at IGA, Hagen's TV, Sold Avon, was a teachers aid at Petersburg Elementary, and was secretary for the Dean of Engineering at University of Michigan, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Petersburg United Methodist Church, Dundee Senior Citizens, and Friends of the Library. She enjoyed her grandchildren, crocheting, travel, and was an avid reader.

Surviving are: her son, Carter (Cheryl) Collins, of Toledo; daughter in law, Teresa Collins, of Petersburg; grandchildren, Brooke, Jason, Candice, Zac, David and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Nicolette and Jake. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, David; two brothers, Wilbur and Carl; and a sister Wilma Smazeaker.
