Winifred W. Verdon, 89, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. In accordance to her wishes, there will be no visitation, and cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. She was in poor health for the past four years, and seriously ill since having a stroke on January 1.
Win was born to Frederick and Clara Rebits on June 1, 1919, in Dearborn, MI. She graduated from Clay High School in 1937. She married Gordon O. Verdon on June 10, 1939, in Bowling Green, OH.
Win enjoyed reading and was an avid Detroit Tiger fan, rarely missing a game on television. Her favorite Tiger was Curtis Granderson. She was a homemaker.
Win is survived by her husband, Gordon; daughters, Joyce Jackson, Joanne (Richard) Kelsey, Perrysburg, OH, Jeanette Roberts, Manassas, VA, Jane Verdon, Alberquerque, NM, and Jill (Ed) Burgess, of Monroe. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Memorials may be made to Lulu United Methodist Church or to Heartland Hospice of Ann Arbor.
