Clinton Martin Stahl, Jr, 83 years, of Petersburg, died Monday, December 21st, at his residence. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Wednesday from 11 AM until 9 PM. He will lie in state at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Petersburg, Thursday, from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Pastor Mark Flory will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg.

 

Born July 11, 1926, in Petersburg, he was the son of Clinton and Olga (Kurtz) Stahl, Sr. Clinton served with the US Army's 3013 Engineering Maintenance Co, from April 1945 to December 1946, and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, the Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. He married Mary Ellen Beland, August 6, 1949 in St. Peter's. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past August. Clinton owned and operated Stahl's Greenhouse and Florist since 1956, retiring in 2002. He was also a lifetime area farmer. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he held various offices thru the years. And he was a former member of the Lynn C. Weeman, American Legion Post 514.

 

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Ellen; two sons, Tom (Nancy) Stahl, of Deerfield, Bill Stahl, of Petersburg; a daughter-in-law Christina Stahl, of Deerfield; grandchildren, Melissa, David, Michelle, Andy, Laura, Marsha, Phillip, Amy, Daniel, Megan; and great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Dean, Ty, Natalie, Faith, Leah, and David. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dale, and a brother, Harold.
