Robert Duane "Duey" Roe, 73 yrs, of Dundee, passed away peacefully at his home on May 13, 2009. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Capaul Funeral Home, Ida.

Duey was born March 5, 1936, in Monroe, to Wanda Roe Deneweth. An Ida High School Graduate, he married Shirley Joan Kroeger on February 21, 1958. He was employed as a Mill Operator at Dundee Products from 1960 until he retired in 1988. Prior to that he worked as a molder at Ideal Furnace Company, in Milan. He also worked at the College Inn, in Dundee.

An avid drag racer, car and motorcycle enthusiast, he participated in the sport from the early 1960's through the late 1970's. He won several world championships in the mid '60's. He enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing, basketball, football, and wrestling.

Surviving are: his wife, Shirley, of Dundee; two sons, Anthony Lee Roe, of Ypsilanti, Tommy Lee Roe, of Ann Arbor; a daughter, Victoria Lynn Heiden, of Ida; five grandsons, Justin Duane Watts, Christopher Lee Watts, Alexander Christian Watts, Austin Gene Heiden, all of Ida; David Anthony Roe, of Ypsilanti; a sister, Diane (Richard) Kaiser, of Temperance; a cousin, Donna (Donald) Sortor, of Rose City, MI; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death were his mother, Wanda, step-father, Andrew Deneweth, brother Donnie Deneweth, Uncle Muriel Roe, grandson, Nicholas Watts, and his grandparents.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Roe may be made to the organization of the donor's choice.
