Frances R. "Ruth" Powell, 64 yrs, of Dundee, died Thursday afternoon. Friends will have visitation Friday March 6, from 10 AM until 12 N, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, where a Memorial Service will be at 12 Noon.

 

Born January 15, 1945, in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of Howard and Vivian (Martin) Powell. She was a 1963 Dundee High School Graduate, and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law and Accounting from Western Michigan University. Ruth taught at Dundee High School from 1967 to 1969, and was Director of Washtenaw County Social Services for many years. Her memberships include: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, and its Prayer Shawl Committee; The Daughters of the American Revolution, The National Society of Colonial Dames-17th Century; Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority, and Co-chaired The Johnny's Friends Wheels for the World.

 

She loved her dogs, Sam and George, and working on computers, genealogy, knitting and reading.

 

Survivors include: Cousins, Marilyn VanDerWeele, Susan, Brian, and Joel; Scott Martin, Ann Mahany; Friends, Margie and Hank VanLooy and sons Brian (Lisa) Rathke, and Maggie and Katie; Todd (Mary) Rathke, and Matthew, Faith, and Wesley: Kevin Rathke and Jordan; Bink and Roxie Boll, and daughters Tina (Russ) Gans, and Ty and Gabby; Kandi (Scott) Jurek, and Dylon and Ryan; Gerry Boyd and Scott, David, and Peter . She was loved and will be missed by many others. She was a special friend to many people. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary, and Chuck Boll.

 

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, or the Monroe County Humane Society.
