Leon L. Powell, 69 yrs, of Ida, died Sunday, October 11th,  at his residence. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Wednesday from 12-9 PM. He will lie in state at Zion United Methodist Church of LaSalle, Thursday from 12 PM until services at 1 PM. Pastor Janet Luchs will officiate. Burial will be in Lulu Cemetery.

Mr. Powell was born November 1, 1939, in Adrian, MI, the son of Laurence and Allison (Holtz) Powell. He married Delight Bandy February 27, 1960, in Adrian. Leon received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Adrian College and was employed by Ford Motor Company for thirty years, retiring in 1997.

A member of Zion United Methodist Church of LaSalle, he was also a member of the Ottawa Sportsman's Club, and was an avid Bow Hunter. He also loved camping and fishing.

Survivors include: his wife, Delight; a son, Marvin; three daughters, Deborah Harrison, Diana (Peter) Poluka, Tina Garrett; a sister, Alice (Gary) Wright; a brother-in-law, Clyde Wright; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Lawrence, and a sister, Marie Wright.
