George J. E. Poupard, Jr, 71 yrs, of Ida, died Thursday, January 22nd at Toledo Hospital, Toledo, OH. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Sunday from 12-9 PM. He will lie in state at St. Joseph's Church, Ida, Monday from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Fr. Michael Woroniewicz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ida.

Born June 29, 1937, in Monroe, MI, he was the son of George and Margaret (Haley) Poupard, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1959, and married Alice J. (Dunn) Thompson June 9, 1962, in Monroe. She died October 13, 2000. A machine operator for Dana Corp for 30 yrs, he retired in 1989. His memberships include: the VFW, Erie Post 3925; Eagles, Aerie 2254, Monroe; Ida Athletic Booster Club, for over 30 yrs; UAW Local 12, Toledo; the Masons, of Monroe; and he was a Boy Scout Master for Troop 103, Petersburg.

Survivors include: two sons, Bill Stover, of Hudson, FL, Ronald (Mary) Poupard, of Port Clinton, OH; three daughters, Irene (Dennis) Huffman, of Hudson, FL, Jamie (Dennis) Rzeska, of Knoxville, TN, Haylea (Michael) Turrill, of Ida; a brother, Ronald Poupard, of Wolverine, MI; a sister, Patricia (Hiram) Shoffner, of LaSalle, MI; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Poupard may be given to: St. Joseph's Church, Ida, or the Ida Athletic Boosters Club.
