Glenn H. Matthes, 80 yrs, of Monroe, died Saturday  evening, May 9th at Regency Hospital, Sylvania, OH. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Tuesday from 7-9 PM, and Wednesday from 12-4 PM and 6-9 PM. He will lie in state Thursday at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Pastor Bruce Lucas will officiate. Burial will be in East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

The son of Henry and Molly (Meyer) Matthes, Glenn was born February 27, 1929, in Raisinville Township. He married Onalee Moll, June 30, 1956, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Petersburg. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary June 30, 2006. Glenn was a lifetime area farmer, and also worked for Ford Motor Company for 33 years. He was a life member of East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church, served as Church Secretary of the Men's Club for many years; was the Sunday School Superintendent for 50 yrs; served on the Board of Elders for many years; and was Secretary for the Lutheran Layman's League, Monroe Zone, for many years. He was also a member of the Monroe UAW, the Ida Co-op, and the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include: his wife, Onalee; two sons, Alan (Lori), of Monroe, Verlyn (Marina), of Reston, VA; a daughter, Lynette (Al) Chobot, of West Bloomfield, MI; a sister, Lila (Eugene) Horsman, of Golden, CO; eleven grandchildren, Stephanie, Christian, Tom, Caleb, Ashley, Paul, Amy, Connor, Brett, Evan, and Garrett; and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Eric. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Donald.

In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions may be made to the East Ida Lutheran Layman's League.
