Max Ernest Martin, 71 yrs, of Petersburg, died Monday, August 31st in Toledo Hospital Emergency Room. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home Thursday from 11 AM until 4 PM. Friends and relatives are then invited to the family residence. Following his wishes he will be cremated. His cremains will be buried at a later date in Great Lake National Cemetery in Holly, MI,
Born July 1, 1938, in Detroit, he was the son of Max C. and Letha (Mitchell) Martin. A veteran, he served with the US Navy from June of 1962 to June of 1968, receiving the National Defense Medal, the Viet Nam Campaign Medal, the Viet Nam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, and the Good Conduct Medal with one Bronze Star. Max married Susan Ann Savage, November 29, 1969, in Garden City, MI. He was a machine repairman for Powertrain of Toledo for 25 yrs, retiring in 2007. A member of the UAW, Local 14, Toledo, the Masons, in Petersburg and was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church of Petersburg.
Survivors include: his wife, Susan; his mother-in-law, Pat Prato; sons, Troy, Robert (Dana), Max E.; daughters, Christine (Mike) Kenny, Lori (Charles) Ellison; sisters, Phyllis Hodges, Gwen Parrish; grandchildren, Sarah and Kaitlyn Ellison, Gabby and Matthew Martin; great-grandson, Cayden Rose; and nephew, Charles Savage. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Norman and Michael.
Memorial contributions for Mr. Martin may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
