Jerome "Jerry" James Kominek, 82 yrs, of Ida, died Friday morning, May 1st while under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Sunday from 1-8 PM. He will lie in state at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, Monday from 12 PM until services at 1 PM. Pastor Ted Kerr will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Ida.

 

Jerry was born September 30, 1926, in Flat Rock, MI, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Grabec) Kominek. He married Thelma Stotz, January 4, 1947, in St. Marks Lutheran Church, Ida. He was an assistant manager for the Ida Farmers Co-Operative, employed for forty-two years, retiring in 1988. Jerry was a quiet, gentle, hardworking man, who loved camping, fishing, farming, gardening, and his family. A member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, he served on the church council.

 

Survivors include: his wife, Thelma; two sons, David (Randi) Kominek, of Ida, Dale (Christine) Kominek, of Dundee; a daughter, Diana (Fred) Ternes, of Farmington Hills, MI; two brothers, Frederick "Fritz" (Joyce) Kominek, of Monroe, George (Ann) Kominek, of Ida; grandchildren, Alex, Rebecca, Kurt (Meredith), and Joe (Penny) Kominek, Roxann (Dan) Dziduch, Gayle (Charlie) Keider, Kristen and Karen Ternes; great-grandchildren, Everett, Ryan, Aaron, Warren, Joey, and Ava. He was preceded in death by a sister Anna Fojtik, four brothers, Frank, Joseph, Charles, and John, and a sister-in-law Shirley Stotz.
